Push!!!!

I can honestly say now that I was late for my evening work because I helped delivered a baby.  A slimy, gooey, slippery, bloody, beautiful baby. Mommy barely even pushed and she came out just like that! The resident was barely gloved and I was frantically looking for gloves myself when the baby began crowning. I was supposed to catch the baby, but this one wasn't stopping for anything or anybody.  The whole thing didn't really dawn on me until The mom started delivering the placenta. There was so much goo and blood, I thought it wouldn't stop. But it did.  Mom and baby are fine.  Will check up on them again tomorrow.

P.S. It's a girl!  Mazel Tov!

Well lucky her - my paternal female cousins are blessed with that gene that let's them pop them out like it's not big deal. Me? I get to look forward to hours and hours and hours of labor if genetics has anything to say for it - YAY

S&P - from what I've heard from nurses and the ob docs @ the hospital most first time moms have the longest labor and delivery times. Bless your cousins for having child-bearing hips.

Victoria - you took the words out of my mouth.

They are little things with no hips actually. That is what they say about first time labour, but unfortunately my mother struggled with both her children and the same goes for the rest of the women on this side of the tree. I can pray that given the changes in birthing styles that my 24hrs plus will be less arduous than my mother's, and while I may be vain, I'm not to vain to push, as long as the baby is fine, I don't see the reason to stop the natural process.

Then again I could just opt to adopt and not have to worry about any of it and still get the joy of a new life.
